FORT KNOX, Ky. -- Ryan Newman finished 23rd in Sunday's AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway, Oct. 2. His No. 39 U.S. Army ROTC Chevrolet struggled with track position at the all-concrete Monster Mile.

Newman remained 11th in the Chase standings with three of the 10 playoff races completed.

The next NASCAR Sprint Cup race is Sunday, Oct. 9, at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.

On the NHRA side, U.S. Army Racing's Top Fuel pilots suffered the same fate Sunday with Tony Schumacher and Antron Brown both losing in the quarterfinal round at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa.

Brown entered the race second in the Countdown playoff point standings. His current position in the points will not be determined until the completion of the national event, which was postponed until Monday due to rain following the quarterfinal round.

Schumacher will leave the Keystone State holding fifth-place in the standings.

The NHRA tour will take a weekend off before traveling to Phoenix for the Arizona NHRA Nationals, Oct. 14-16. The Arizona event will be the fourth of six Countdown playoff races.
