CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait— The Combined Federal Campaign marks 50 years of partnership with military forces. Third Army is slated to begin its annual CFC fundraising event here Oct. 3.
CFC permitted fundraising in the Federal workplace in 1961, in an effort to support and promote humanitarianism through a program that is cost-efficient and effective in providing Department of Defense employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all through donations.
Today CFC is one of the most inclusive giving campaigns for DOD employees. It has more than 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations and helps thousands of families each year.
In preparation for the CFC, Third Amy/ARCENT has provided their subordinate units with posters, flyers and emails to remind every service member that giving will help all in need.
“Money raised during this campaign will help children, families, and everyone as a whole,” said Capt. Racquel Crisp, Third Army Special Troops Battalion adjutant officer in charge, STB CFC coordinator, and native of Oklahoma, City, Okla.
Everyone plays a role in CFC whether it’s a family in need or if someone wants to donate, Crisp mentioned.
Last year STB raised more than $47 thousand for CFC.
“We want to raise at least $50 thousand this year,” Crisp said. “It is very important that everyone gives and if everyone in STB donates five dollars, we would hit our target goal.”
CFC is an annual event, giving service members the opportunity to change lives.
“I give because I want to help bring others a feeling of solace and gratitude,” said Staff Sgt. Sherika Pharr, STB adjutant non-commissioned officer in charge, STB CFC NCO and Atlanta native. “By giving, those who receive care through these nonprofit organizations know someone cares enough to take out of their pocket and give freely.”
Service members can donate to any nonprofit organization they choose. For DOD employees, donations can be made through payroll deductions, a one-time cash donation, or by check. Reservist, National Guard and contractors can only make a one-time cash donation.
Third Army will continue to educate and inspire all service members here to ensure they know that donating to CFC will help those in need. Through nonprofit fundraisers like this, Third Army is building strength between the military service and families in need.
