CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Kentucky Gov. Steven L. Beshear visited Third Army troops here Aug. 2.
During his visit, Beshear took the opportunity to personally thank troops for their hard work and dedication in carrying out the Third Army mission.
“Today I got the chance to look soldiers in the eye,” said Beshear. “We have so many courageous men and women here. I want them to know firsthand how much we think about them in the U.S., and we appreciate everything they do and sacrifice so that we can live freely.”
Beshear served as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he also carried out certain judge advocate general duties. Visiting the soldiers was a reminder of how dedicated U.S. Armed Forces are, he said.
“I was able to see the real reality of what these soldiers do on a day-to-day basis,” Beshear added. “I am very impressed with how they can operate in such hot weather, and still keep a positive attitude while working so hard.”
Maj. Nathan Fawbush, a Louisville, Ky. native and member of the 467th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., stationed at Ali Al Salem, was present during the governor’s visit and had the opportunity to meet him.
“It’s great to see my governor here,” noted Fawbush. “It makes me feel good to know he’s supporting the troops.”
Beshear’s visit helped build morale for service members, the strength of our nation, while shaping the future for Third Army’s mission.
