99th RSC honors Army civilians with special commander’s awards

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J., -- Three U.S. Army civilian employees received a special commanders award from Maj. Gen. William D. Razz Waff, commanding general, 99th Regional Support Command during the 99th RSC monthly ‘Dauntless Call’ at the Maj. John P. Pryor Army Reserve Center.

The Commander's Award for Civilian Service is an honorary award presented by the Department of the Army to civilian employees for commendable service or achievement.

Employees who have a past record of excellence, normally recognized by the previous receipt of one or more honorary or performance awards, may be considered for this award. The Commander's Award for Civilian Service is comparable to the military Army Commendation Medal.

The awardees were –

Edward J. McAleer III worked as the supervisory equipment transition specialist for the 99th and issued out more than 500 pieces of equipment from the New Equipment Fielding Facility in New Jersey and more than 100 pieces from the New York location.

Dedryann E. Dorner worked with the director of logistics to standardize the position descriptions for all four regional support commands while flawlessly creating and tracking requests for civilian personnel actions.

Bernard J. Olszewski shipped out at total of 1,064 excess class IX repair parts, saving the command more than $79,000 during FY11

The 99th Regional Support Command acts as a “virtual installation” that provides world-class base operations support to over 50,000 Army Reserve soldiers, 400 units and 300 facilities for the entire Northeast Region from Maine to Virginia for the Army Reserve in order to give its warrior-citizens and their families the finest care, support, services and training.
