FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NHRA Top Fuel drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown squared off in the final round of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway on Sunday with Brown coming away the victor.
Brown's 3.856-second pass at 318.69 mph was just good enough to beat Schumacher's 3.905-second run at 315.86 mph. It was Brown's second win of the season.
Over in the U.S. Army NASCAR Racing camp, driver Ryan Newman finished 21st in Sunday's FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
All three U.S. Army Racing drivers will be back in action next weekend. Schumacher and Brown will head to Heartland Park Topeka (Kan.) for the NHRA Summer Nationals, May 20-22, while Newman will stay close to home for Saturday night's Sprint Cup All-Star race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Schumacher and Brown are now fourth and second, respectively, in the standings. Newman currently holds seventh in the driver point standings.
