KABUL, Afghanistan – The International Security Assistance Force joins the Afghan Ministry of Interior in condemning the killing and wounding of several Afghan civilians in Wata Pour district, Kunar province, May 16.
Reports indicate insurgents fired mortars that killed three Afghan civilians and wounded eight more.
“Insurgents cannot stand against the coalition and Afghan security force and are instead resorting to cowardly attacks on the Afghan people, attempting to terrorize them into submission,” said Rear Admiral Vic Beck, ISAF Director of Public Affairs.
“What they fail to realize is that each of these heinous attacks turns support away from their cause and strengthens the resolve of the people against them. We will continue to work with our Afghan counterparts to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
