FORT DEVENS, Mass. – Approximately 600 newly enlisted men and women will compete on Friday, May 20 through Saturday, May 21, aboard US Army Base, Fort Devens, Mass., in a variety of Marine Corps events designed to strengthen character and build camaraderie.

This annual Marine Corps event is designed to test the enlistees’ physical fitness with pull-ups, sit-ups and a mile and a half run to ensure that they are prepared for the rigors of Marine Corps boot camp. Three motivated Drill Instructors from Parris Island, SC, will also be present throughout the day to introduce the “Future Marines” to life in the Marine Corps.

This year’s Field Meet will include all United States Marine Corps’ enlistees from across New England, to include Eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. A schedule of events is listed on the following page.

The Field Meet begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Media Representatives are invited to observe and cover the event. Media will need an escort to enter Fort Devens.

Media interested in coverage or for more information contact Sgt. Bryan Lett, Public Affairs Director, at (603) 436-2176 or bryan.lett@marines.usmc.mil.
