ISAF Joint Command morning operational update
KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces targeted a Taliban facilitator, and killed and detained several suspected insurgents during an operation in Musa Qalah District, Helmand province, yesterday.
The facilitator is an active member of an IED cell who regularly attacks Afghan and coalition forces within the district.
Intelligence reports led the security force to the targeted compound where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. While the assault force was securing the compound, they were confronted by insurgents who demonstrated hostile intent, resulting in several killed. Several suspected insurgents were detained following initial questioning at the scene for involvement in insurgent activity.
