Mosul, Iraq (18 May 2006) -Air Force Airman from 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron (Red Horse) are constructing a Tactical Operations Center and currently refurbishing old buildings on Forward Operating Base Marez, Mosul, Iraq.
The buildings will be used by Army Soldiers who are being moved here from other FOB's that are closing in the near future.
"We are here to build and rebuild structures for Soldiers that are moving from different parts of Iraq," said Staff Sgt David Dulaney, Electrical System Journeyman, 557th ERHS and native of Jacksonville, Fla.
According to Senior Airman Brad Northcutt, Structures Journeyman, Barksdale AFB La., and native of Tyler, Texas, it is an experience learning new things and how different branches work in cohesion.
"While Soldiers are out on missions we are busy constructing buildings so that they can have a place to work and sleep," said Northcut
"As an electrician my job is to place electrical wiring in all of the buildings we construct or refurbish," said Dulaney. "Our overall mission is general contracting and any electrical work that needs to be done; it's a lot of little jobs and a lot of projects around the FOB, said Dulaney.
"We are here to support the Army and help build a better place for future missions in Iraq," said Staff Sgt. Allen Nixon, 557th ERHS and native of Albuquerque, N.M. "It has been very rewarding to be able to be here and do my part to help make this base a better place to live and work."
