BADGHIS, Afghanistan – Coalition forces were notified by villagers in Qades District, Badghis province, that an Afghan boy was shot and killed by insurgents Jan. 23.

Special Operations Forces learned of the incident during a key leader engagement with local villagers.

SOF members investigated the location where the incident had reportedly occurred and confirmed that a 10-year-old boy had been killed.

The incident occurred on the same day that indirect fire, employed by insurgents in Nahr-e Saraj District, Helmand province, killed two Afghan children and wounded four.
