KABUL, Afghanistan – Members of Task Force White Eagle met with 14 subgovernors from Ghazni province Dec. 23 to discuss current issues and how to increase development and support for districts in the province.

“When we work together we can win,” said Brig. Gen. Andrzej Reudowicz, Task Force White Eagle commander, as he started the meeting. “Today we present some of our ideas, but on your part, we also need guidance on how to improve our plans.”

Subgovernors and International Security Assistance Forces representatives discussed the key areas of cooperation with local administrations.

“We talked about the ... functioning of law, health and education system,” said Col. Andrzej Stanek, District Development Team commander. “But our primary topic was security.”

In response to the identified needs of province residents, Col. Brian Stevens, Texas Agribusiness Development Team commander, offered assistance and training in the field of processing and storage of agricultural products for the winter.

Subgovernors also discussed with coalition forces development projects.

The subgovernors placed emphasis on this being the first time they participated in such a meeting. There seemed to be no recollection of there ever having been a meeting where coalition forces were able to amass nearly all provincial subgovernors.

During the talks, a proposal was made to have the meetings monthly, alternately in Forward Operating Base Ghazni and in the governor's office.
