KABUL, Afghanistan– Ghazni Provincial Gov. Musa Khan presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony of a kindergarten in Ghazni City Dec. 9.

The ceremony marked the completion of construction and the turnover of the school to the province’s Department of Social Affairs.

The school grounds are enclosed by a fence for the security of the children and staff. The school building itself is a two-story structure with a kitchen, dining room, store room, admin office, recreation room and restrooms on the first floor.

The upper floor contains six classrooms, a library and an additional bathroom with showers. Outside is a playground equipped with swings, teeter-totters and other equipment, as well as space for the children to run and play.

“This project was completed very quickly,” stated Krzysztof Freszel, the project’s engineer. “The whole project took less than six months and cost approximately $300,000.”

The project was financed by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and constructed by Sazgar Daikundi Construction Company.
