BOSTON — The 88-foot sailing vessel Raw Faith sank in approximately 6,000 feet of water about 166 miles southeast of Nantucket, Mass., Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010.
The two-person crew of the Raw Faith was rescued around 2:20 p.m., Tuesday, by a Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod crew.
The boat is not considered a hazard to navigation and due to water depth, there is no plan for salvage.
Currently there have been no reports of pollution.
An over flight of the area is scheduled for later today by Air Station Cape Cod crews to ensure there is no pollution. There were four, five-gallon gas cans and two gallons of diesel fuel on board.
The Raw Faith departed Salem, Mass., en route to Bermuda when it became disabled off the coast of Nantucket.
