KABUL, Afghanistan – A new 16-room hospital that will provide medical care to thousands of Kandahar residents recently opened in Kandahar City.
The $100,000 hospital was constructed with a financial grant from the U.S. Defense Department.
Kandahar Gov. Toryalay Weesa, who attended the opening ceremony, said the clinic would provide medical services to thousands of Kandahar residents.
The head of the Health Department, Abdul Quyum Pokhla, said that about 60,000 Afghans can benefit from free medical service at the hospital.
Pokhla also said six more clinics would be set up in different districts and in Kandahar City in the future
