KABUL, Afghanistan - The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of a Taliban facilitator responsible for coordinating vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks during an overnight operation in Kandahar province Wednesday.
Intelligence information led the security force to a compound northwest of Hajji Mohammad in Kandahar District to search for the facilitator.
Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully, and then the joint security force cleared and secured the compound. After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator along with several of his associates.
The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
