KAJAKI, Afghanistan – Marines with India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, in Kajaki, light up the dark sky, Oct. 1, after receiving word of suspicious activity near the Kajaki Dam.
The mortarmen at Forward Operating Base Zeebrugge first fired illumination rounds to spot and confirm the Taliban activity and then followed it up with high explosive rounds to destroy the threat.
Nearly every night, mortarmen at FOB Zeebrugge gear up at a moment’s notice and race toward the mortar pit to fire everything from illumination rounds to high-explosive rounds.
