WASHINGTON — Nine White House sentries assigned to Guard Company, Marine Barracks Washington, received Joint Service Achievement Medals for their professionalism and consistent dedication while supporting the President, our Nation, and allies during the April 2026 State Visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Cpl. Jaryn Carrillo-Talmadge, Cpl. Jeremiah Chancey, Cpl. Jamichael Holmes, Cpl. Chance Jewell, Cpl. James McGhee, Cpl. Remington Parker, Cpl. William San Antonio IV, Cpl. Nathaniel Swartwood and Cpl. Alexander Wilson served as White House Marine sentries in support of the visit. Their work extended well beyond the ceremony itself, requiring extensive planning, preparation, training and rehearsals to ensure they were prepared to execute their responsibilities with precision.
Maj. Gen. Garrett Hoffman, director of the White House Military Office, presented the Marines with JSAMs during an awards ceremony in the Indian Treaty Room at the White House, Sept. 10. The awards recognized not only their performance during the State Visit, but the preparation, teamwork and resilience the Marines displayed while representing the Marine Corps during an internationally significant event.
The Marines’ performance reflected the discipline, character and dedication expected of Barracks Marines. Their ability to rely on one another, adapt to the demands of the mission and execute their responsibilities to the highest standard demonstrated the caliber of individual required to perform when and where the Nation needs them.
For more than two centuries, Marines of the “Oldest Post of the Corps” have been entrusted to support the President and represent the Marine Corps before the Nation’s leaders and guests from around the world. That responsibility rests with individual Marines who take pride in their service, refuse to let their fellow Marines down and possess the discipline to carry out their responsibilities intelligently. Whether standing post at the White House or representing the Marine Corps on the world stage, Barracks Marines continue to uphold the standard established by the generations who came before them.
