AFGHANISTAN - A 10-year-old Afghan boy was medically evacuated by Afghan and Coalition forces Oct. 1, in Qadis District, Badghis province, due to shrapnel wounds as a result of deliberately launched mortar rounds by insurgents.

Several explosions were observed by coalition forces impacting in the vicinity of Darrah-I-Bum. After the explosions stopped, the boy was brought to the coalition force’s base by his uncle.

After being treated by Afghan National Army and coalition medical personnel on scene, the boy was medically evacuated by a coalition forces helicopter so he could receive the proper medical treatment for his injuries.
