FORT MEADE, Md. – A retired Army military intelligence noncommissioned officer was recalled to active duty and court-martialed for sexually abusing children.
Sgt. 1st Class Sean A. Loveridge, 54, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing three children while he was on active duty during his trial Aug. 13 at the Fort Meade courtroom.
The military judge sentenced him to three years in prison, total forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and a dishonorable discharge from the Army.
In the summer of 2025, Loveridge was going through a background check for a civilian intelligence position with the government when he admitted to sexually abusing three children in 2016 and 2020, ages 12, 5 and 1, while living in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
The agency notified the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division as well as detectives from the Ogden City Police Department in Utah, where Loveridge was living.
During an interview with an Ogden City PD detective, Loveridge was asked about the alleged child sexual abuse and he reiterated the same incriminating information.
He was first prosecuted by Utah authorities and is currently serving a term of confinement there. With the help of Utah officials and Army CID, prosecutors were able to transfer him from prison in Utah to Maryland in order to conduct the court-martial.
“This guilty plea holds Sgt. 1st Class Loveridge responsible for offenses he committed during his active duty service. From all appearances, Sgt. 1st Class Loveridge served honorably, but the reality is he committed grave crimes against people who trusted him during his Army career,” said Lt. Col. Steve Dray, prosecutor, Headquarters, Army Office of Special Trial Counsel. “The adjudged dishonorable discharge terminates his retiree status, its pay and benefits, and underlines the integrity required of those who wear the uniform.”
“This sentence, supported by the victims and their families, reflects both the seriousness of the misconduct, and also Sgt. 1st Class Loveridge’s effort at taking accountability for his actions. He was the source of almost all the evidence against him, and today Sgt. 1st Class Loveridge took responsibility for his crimes,” said Capt. Ashley Jesser, prosecutor, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command. “We believe this sentence strikes a responsible balance of justice and provides closure for the victims.”

Loveridge returned to prison in Utah and will serve his confinement there. If he serves less than three years, he will be transferred to Army custody to complete the remainder of his 36-month sentence.
Loveridge is required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration requirements.
