WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- For the fifth consecutive year, Air Force Materiel Command civilians dominated the enterprise Civilian Development selection process, securing 625 primary and alternate quotas in Academic Year 2027 developmental programs.
“The intentional development of our civilian workforce is key to our ability to successfully execute our missions today and helps us develop enterprise leaders for the future. Our success this application cycle is a testament to the high caliber of our workforce,” said Kim M. Brown, director, AFMC Manpower, Personnel and Services.
Civilian Development programs directly align to Air Force and Department of War institutional competencies and are designed to ensure individuals have the requisite knowledge and skills to succeed in dynamic operational environments. Programs range from long-term academic and terminal degree offerings to experiential opportunities, fellowships, leadership training and other short, targeted courses focused on specific skill development.
A cadre of Senior Executive Staff and general officers review applications for boarded programs such as the Executive Leadership Development Program, Excellence in Government, National and International Security Leadership Seminar and others. Career Field Teams review candidate applications for programs such as Education with Industry, the Civilian Leadership Course, Squadron Officer School and more.
The following is a breakdown of results for Academic Year 2027.
Overall program-wide selection results:
Non-Boarded (Development Team Approved) Programs: 529 AFMC Civilian Selectees
Boarded Developmental Programs: 96 AFMC Civilian Selectees
Civilian Strategic Leader Program (CSLP): 12 AFMC Civilian Selectees
Civilian Short Term Experiential Program (CSTEP): 15 AFMC Civilian Selectees
Selections for the Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program are determined by a separate board and will be announced in September.
