ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay — Special operations teams representing 17 nations began Fuerzas Comando 2026 in Asunción, Paraguay, Aug. 24. Fuerzas Comando 2026, held Aug. 24-28, is the 20th iteration of the multinational special operations skills competition and senior leadership seminar. U.S. Southern Command sponsors the event, which Special Operations Command South and Paraguay’s Batallón Conjunto de Fuerzas Especiales (BCFE) planned and lead in execution. Participating nations are Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the United States. The event began Aug. 24 with an opening ceremony followed by the first scored event, a physical fitness test. Competition continues throughout the week with individual and team events:

Established in 2004, Fuerzas Comando is an annual, multi-day event that tests participants’ skills through a friendly special operations forces competition. The event promotes interoperability and military-to-military relationships, increases training knowledge and strengthens regional cooperation among participating nations. A Senior Leader Seminar takes place concurrently with the competition, bringing together multinational special operations leaders to discuss transnational threat networks and their implications for regional defense and stability. Fuerzas Comando 2026 concludes Aug. 28 with a closing ceremony in Asunción.
