FORT KNOX, Ky. — Hundreds descended on Sadowski Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Aug. 21 to take part in the much-anticipated annual Retiree Appreciation Day.
Organizers said over 400 veterans traveled from several counties and states to enjoy the day, which focused on helping retirees with immunizations, dental screens, Army Reserve retirement packets and folding tables full of information from about 85 different vendors.
At the halfway mark, members of the Fort Knox Retiree Council gathered around a table and witnessed the traditional cutting of a cake in honor of retirees. Organizers deemed the event a success and said they are already planning the next one.
