Federal Supply Chain Excellence Awards Womack’s Commitment to Excellence

FORT BRAGG, NC - Womack Army Medical Center has never been at a loss for recognition of greatness and its latest award is a testimony to that. Brandy Mitchell, Womack ‘s Supply Chain Clinical Analyst, received on behalf of the medical center, the inaugural 2026 Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) Federal Supply Chain Excellence Award at a group conference in San Antonio, Texas.   The Federal Supply Chain Performance Award honors federal healthcare facilities that demonstrate a sustained record of supply chain excellence, mission support, and operational innovation. It is part of AHRMM's annual supply chain excellence recognition program.    “We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition,” said Mitchell. “And know that this award belongs to all the logistics and clinical staff who have partnered and supported Womack over the years with evidence-based medical product standardization and sustainability projects that have streamlined operational efficiency.”   “Our logistics team is one of the strongest in the Defense Health Agency enterprise,” said LTC Jaime Porras, Womack’s Director of Logistics. “We are ranked 7th out of 49 hospitals for Logistics Management Indicators (LMI), and among the top performers for reprocessing, coming in 5th of 15 in the Stryker Sustainability South Atlantic Region, which spans four states.”   The award highlights programs that improve clinical integration and operational efficiency. It requires completed or active initiatives with measurable, documented, and verifiable outcomes within the past 24 months and focuses on scalable and replicable models that benefit healthcare logistics beyond a single site. Womack received the award for its Clinician-Led Logistics Transformation initiative, which was recognized for a 13-year record of sustained excellence, sustainability, and supporting clinical care   “Improved patient care also played a part in Womack becoming the first Department of Defense/DHA medical facility to achieve over $1 million dollars in cost avoidance through their single-use device reprocessing program,” Mitchell proudly attests.   “Brandy is just one of our many standout performers. As the first, and one of very few, registered nurses assigned to logistics in the DHA enterprise,” added Porras about Ms. Mitchell. “She serves as the critical bridge between logistics and clinical staff, enabling value that benefits both patient care and operational efficiency.”   AHRMM was founded in 1951, it is the leading national membership group and premier community for healthcare supply chain, logistics, and materials management professionals. It operates as an institutional affiliate of the American Hospital Association (AHA). AHRMM strengthens the nation's healthcare supply chain by providing education, leadership, networking and industry-specific resources and information to advance the field and enhance the professional development of its individual members.   Read about a similar achievement at https://www.dvidshub.net/news/556541/womack-reprocessing-looks-like-million-bucks
