The landscape of the Wyoming Air National Guard base saw a historic addition this month following the installation of a new C-130 Hercules propeller monument.
The project, which successfully concluded in June, serves as a symbol of the wing’s long-standing airlift mission. The monument's construction began in March when personnel broke ground on the foundation site located on base. What started as a foundational project quickly evolved into a multi-shop effort, showcasing the diverse technical capabilities and teamwork within the wing.
Initial phases of the installation were led by the 153rd Civil Engineer Squadron, which handled the structural design, excavation, and concrete required to support the propeller.
Following the completion of the ground and structural work, the project transitioned to maintenance personnel, who mounted and secured the refurbished C-130 propeller to its stand.
The C-130 Hercules has long been the backbone of the 153rd Airlift Wing's mission, and the newly completed monument stands as a daily reminder of the dedication of the Airmen who fly, maintain, and support the airframe.
