FORT LEE, Va. – U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command Headquarters and Headquarters Company held a change of command ceremony August 7 at the 1st Logistical Command Memorial outside the headquarters.
Capt. Ashodd Ford relinquished the company colors to Capt. Monique Gillis after 15 months as the commander.
“HHC is unlike other companies,” said Col. Vernon Jones, outgoing Chief of Staff. “Its Soldiers quietly enable the senior leaders responsible for shaping sustainment doctrine, training, and capabilities across our Army.
“Much of what this company carries out happens behind the scenes, yet the impact is felt throughout the force,” said the colonel.
During his time in command, Ford led more than 280 Soldiers, Army Civilians and senior leaders across multiple installations while overseeing more than $61 million in facilities and property.
“To my CASCOM HHC staff, my team, my family – I love you each very much,” said Ford. “Your attention to detail and willingness to adapt has brought timely and more accurate services to the training needs of every individual in CASCOM HHC.
“I’m truly grateful for our time together and wish you the best,” added the outgoing commander.
Ford’s next assignment is at the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Gillis comes to CASCOM HHC from the 59th Ordnance Brigade where she was the S1 Personnel Chief.
“Thank you for your trust and confidence in selecting me to command Headquarters and Headquarters Company,” said Gillis. “It is both an incredible honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I am committed to leading this company with integrity, humility, and purpose.
“I will lead with character, communicate with transparency, and always strive to make decisions that place the mission and our people first,” added the new commander. “Together, we will build upon the outstanding reputation of HHC and continue to demonstrate why Support Starts Here.”
CASCOM HHC is the largest permanent party company on Fort Lee. They are tasked with supporting the all CASCOM personnel as well as Soldiers from three tenant activities; supporting more than 600 officers, warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and Army Civilians.
