JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – Soldiers from across America’s First Corps came together to learn how to utilize the Army’s newest training management system, the Army Training Information System. Software engineers from ATIS, Vantage, and Maven surged on Joint Base Lewis-McChord to teach, coach, and mentor company-level leaders and training room noncommissioned officers (NCOs) to ensure maximal understanding and expertise of ATIS and how it combines multiple Army systems into a single common dashboard.
Subject matter experts from ATIS hit the ground running to teach company-level leadership and training room NCOs on the new system of record. The three-day course introduced students to ATIS’s scope and scale, highlighting the agile software framework meant to build upon lessons learned and remain a bespoke system meeting Army demands.
After classroom orientation, the I Corps Training Support Branch hosted an engineer open house showcasing how units leverage ATIS within their formations to give unmatched situational awareness to their higher headquarters. The brief concluded with tailored training for company and battalion leadership to enable highly trained and optimized formation.
A key portion of the mobile ATIS training model is enabling bottom-up refinement of ATIS to continue to match the needs of individual operators. “We are constantly meeting with Army end users to develop the best product we can.” said Adam Fugent, a change manager for the Army’s Capability Program Executive Enterprise Software and Services (CPE ES2) team. “On-ground ATIS training is an opportunity to not only train end users but give those users the opportunity to inform Army enterprise-level systems.”
The Army Training Information Systemoffers commanders access to real-time information, allowing leaders at echelon to understand their formation’s readiness at a moment’s notice. As the successor to the Digital Training Management System (DTMS), ATIS integrates seamlessly with other foundational Army systems, combining 21 different Army systems of record. ATIS interfaces with Vantage, Central Army Registry, and the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army daily to pull and display data in one common dashboard. These collaborative systems minimize the amount of time Soldiers spend on administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on their formation’s mission. ATIS streamlines training management while ensuring consistency in standards and data throughout the Army.
“We develop software for the warfighter, informed by the warfighter,” said Christie Murphy, ATIS product manager. “Through an agile, feedback-driven approach, we incrementally deliver easy-to-use capabilities that drive informed decision-making at all echelons. In 2026, we solidified this commitment by conducting 251 total user engagements across 92 Army organizations, ensuring our software continuously evolves to meet the dynamic needs of Soldiers, leaders, and DA civilians.”
The Army continues to take dedicated strides towards maximizing training time for units by eliminating redundant administrative systems so Soldiers can get back to generating lethal and ready fighting formations.
