POZNAN, Poland — Polish Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Piotr Trytek assumed the role of Deputy Commanding General-Interoperability for U.S. Army V Corps from Polish Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Maciej Jablonski during a change of authority ceremony at Camp Kościuszko in Poznan, Poland, July 29, 2026.
The ceremony was presided over by Lt. Gen. Charles Costanza, V Corps Commanding General, and marked the formal transfer of authority from the outgoing to the incoming deputy commander.
The event brought together Soldiers, civilian employees, family members and multinational partners to recognize Jablonski’s accomplishments while highlighting the continuity of leadership and the unit's commitment to mission readiness.
On August 1, 2023 Jablonski assumed the role of Deputy Commanding General-Interoperability, at Fort Knox, Kentucky. During his time with V Corps, he made numerous accomplishments, to include, leading the Polish tank, Apache, and HIMARS initiatives. Jablonski coordinated and led the Territorial Defense Force Symposiums while playing a pinnacle role in the management and logistics of rotational U.S. troops coming to Poland.
“It was a wonderful few years, during which I had the opportunity to implement many initiatives,” expressed Jablonski. “A very important activity for me was the possibility to coordinate the function of rotational forces with the main commands and institutions in Poland.”
During his remarks, Costanza recognizes the significance of the leadership transition, describing it as both a farewell and a welcome for the V Corps family. He also noted the valuable experience Trytek brings from the Polish Armed Forces' Land Forces Inspectorate that will strengthen V Corps' mission and its partnership with Poland. “These ceremonies are always hard, you’re saying goodbye to part of your family, and we welcome a new part of our family, and it’s bitter sweet,”stated Costanza. “But for us, V Corps and Poland, this is a big win, we’ve got Gen. Piotr Trytek coming from the land force inspectorate, he brings all that experience that he’s had in the Polish Army to here (Ft. Knox) to V Corps.”
Incoming deputy commander Trytek wants to redouble V Corps efforts in regards to strengthening relationships with our allies.
“Interoperability is one of the biggest challenges for the alliance, and it is a key to our strength, I believe that we may learn a lot from each other,” said Trytek. “I am a witness to the evolution of the cooperation of our armies, as I have participated in the process at multiple levels.”
Now as the torch is passed, Trytek stands ready to enhance U.S. and NATO cooperation while working to achieve their shared goals.
“I am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Sir, ladies and gentlemen, soldiers, I am ready to fight and win side by side with you, anytime, anywhere. It will be done,” said Trytek in his closing remarks.
