Behind the scenes at Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS), a dedicated team just pulled off something massive. The Product and Service Realignment Team rolled up their sleeves and successfully shifted over 700 roles (billets), redirecting $80 million to make sure resources are matched with their true missions. For their hard work, they took home the prestigious Department of the Navy Financial Management (DON FM) Award for Team Contribution to Business Processes and Internal Controls.
“Code N82 is at the heart of NAVSUP WSS, operating as a dedicated team of behind-the-scenes professionals who continuously strive to support and elevate our command,” explained Dan Prian, N82 Resource Management Director. “This award recognizes their unwavering commitment to the Navy and their critical work in strengthening our operational foundation.”
To make this happen, the team painstakingly combed through thousands of individual jobs. They ensured each role was placed in the right category based on its actual day-to-day duties and core mission. This wasn't just an exercise in moving numbers on a spreadsheet; it was a fundamental correction. In the past, funds might have been misallocated, which could create shortfalls. By spotting these misplaced resources, the team was able to cut out unnecessary spending and stop duplicated efforts, like two departments unknowingly doing the same IT tasks.
For the team, the work was highly rewarding. “I’m thankful to be in a role where I can contribute this kind of lasting, enterprise-wide impact,” shared Jenna Adams, Financial Management Analyst. “I’m proud to be part of a team and organization that trusts me with that responsibility and supports this level of analytical, mission-focused work.”
Directly supporting the Department of War's push for efficiency, this realignment means the right funding is finally tied definitively to the right tasks. It clears up operational confusion, empowers personnel to do their jobs better, and stops the drag that comes from mismatched assignments.
