SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii — Security Forces Airmen assigned to the Ohio Air National Guard's 178th Wing have arrived at Schofield Barracks to participate in a multi-day training event designed to strengthen expeditionary readiness, enhance tactical proficiency and prepare Airmen for future missions.
Throughout the training, Airmen will participate in classroom instruction, mission planning and field exercises that simulate operational environments. The training is designed to strengthen individual and team skills while reinforcing the ability to operate in austere and dynamic conditions.
By integrating classroom learning with realistic field scenarios, Airmen will sharpen their tactical capabilities, improve decision-making and build the readiness required to support state and federal missions.
"The jungle is the classroom, not the objective," said Master Sgt. Bradley Akers, 178th Security Forces Squadron Operations Superintendent. "Our purpose is to push our Airmen beyond their comfort zones in one of the world's most demanding environments, reinforcing disciplined leadership, teamwork and adaptability. Those are the qualities that make them more capable Defenders, regardless of where the mission takes them."
Training at Schofield Barracks provides an opportunity for Airmen to operate in a challenging environment while strengthening the expeditionary mindset necessary to meet evolving mission requirements. The exercise also reinforces the 178th Wing's commitment to maintaining a ready, capable force prepared to respond whenever and wherever called.
