Q&A:
- What is an OICC?
- An OICC is a designated command or officer responsible for executing major, large-scale military construction and infrastructure programs.
- What is SIOP?
- The Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) is a comprehensive, long-term recapitalization effort that is delivering integrated investments in infrastructure and industrial plant equipment at the Navy’s four public shipyards, expanding shipyard capacity and optimizing shipyard configuration to meet the Navy’s nuclear-powered fleet maintenance requirements. Recapitalizing the shipyards' century-old infrastructure increases maintenance throughput and improves quality of service for the Navy’s 37,000 shipyard employees.
- Why do we need an OICC?
- OICC PSNS will serve as the accountable command for the Navy’s proposed Multi-Mission Dry Dock.
- What is the Multi-mission Dry Dock?
- The Multi-mission Dry Dock is a proposed multi-billion-dollar, multi-decade series of projects to revitalize PSNS & IMF to deliver the fleet of the future. The project will grant the shipyard the capacity to perform depot-level maintenance on a Gerald R. Ford-class carrier in the Pacific Northwest, ensuring the Navy meets its important mission to maintain, modernize and retire the Navy’s nuclear-powered fleet for decades to come.
- What’s next?
