3rd MBCT, 10th MTN DIV changes command at Fort Polk

FORT POLK, La. — The 3rd Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), transferred command from Col. Joshua G. Glonek to Col. Ian M. Ginty during a change of command ceremony at Mountain Field on Fort Polk, Louisiana, June 9, 2026.

Maj. Gen. Scott Naumann, commanding general of the 10th Mountain Division, presided over the ceremony and recognized the Patriot Brigade’s accomplishments during the past two years, highlighting its role as one of the Army’s Transformation in Contact brigades.

Under Glonek’s leadership, the brigade deployed to Europe in support of NATO allies, integrated emerging technologies and new warfighting concepts, and recently completed a Joint Readiness Training Center rotation that validated many of those capabilities under demanding operational conditions.

“The Patriots didn’t just maintain readiness,” Naumann said. “They demonstrated that an organization could transform in a novel and meaningful way while simultaneously operating in one of the most uncertain missions in the contemporary operating environment today.”

Glonek credited the brigade’s success to the Soldiers, leaders and families who enabled the formation to accomplish a wide range of missions while preparing for future conflict.

“As I watched this unit carry out some of its most impressive feats, what’s been most remarkable to me has been the grit, the resilience and the determination of the Soldiers standing here today to complete whatever mission it was that they were assigned,” Glonek said.

He said the brigade’s toughness reflects the enduring legacy of the 10th Mountain Division and its commitment to remain ready whenever the nation calls.

During the ceremony, Ginty assumed command of the Patriot Brigade and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the formation.

“The Patriot Brigade has always had a special place in my heart,” Ginty said. “My family and I feel honored and privileged to join the 3rd Mobile Brigade Combat Team and Fort Polk’s home team.”

As one of the Army’s Transformation in Contact brigades, the Patriot Brigade continues to integrate emerging capabilities while maintaining the readiness required to deploy worldwide in support of the nation’s missions.
