Hico Native Honored as Warfighter of the Week aboard USS George Washington By Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Tyler Crowley

PHILIPPINE SEA – Hico native Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Daniel Williamson was recognized as the Warfighter of the Week aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), June 5, 2026.

Warfighter of the Week is a command program where the ship’s captain personally recognizes an exemplary Sailor selected by their leadership for their accomplishments. Williamson was recognized for.

“The best part about my job is spotlighting people and things that others may take for granted,” said Williamson. “everything from whole departments to folks that work hard.”

He has been in the Navy for 2 years and has served on George Washington for 1 year. Williamson is a 2021 graduate of Hico High School.
