Atlanta Native Honored as Warfighter of the Week aboard USS George Washington By Mass Communication Specialist MC2 Tyler Crowley

PHILIPPINE SEA – Atlanta native Aviation Maintenance Administrationman Seaman Apprentice Deangelo Williams was recognized as the Warfighter of the Week aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), June 5, 2026.

Warfighter of the Day is a command program where the ship’s captain personally recognizes an exemplary Deangelo selected by their leadership for their accomplishments.

Williams was credited with his contribution to the setup of Maintenance Control and the accurate logging of 84 maintenance action forms as an F/A-18 logs and record clerk.

“My favorite part of my job is getting to help my fellow shipmates accomplish their workload,” said Deangelo.

Deangelo has been in the Navy for 1 year and is a 2022 graduate of Riverwood High School.

George Washington is the U.S. Navy’s premier forward-deployed aircraft carrier, a long-standing symbol of the United States’ commitment to maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region, while operating alongside allies and partners across the U.S. Navy’s largest numbered fleet.
