KABUL – Afghan and coalition security forces detained two insurgents in Khost Tuesday, including a Haqqani Network facilitator involved in gathering improvised explosive device materials and carrying out attacks.
Intelligence sources led the security force to a compound northwest of the village of Kabal Kala in Terayzai district to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined security force cleared and secured the compound.
The security force identified and detained the facilitator along with one of his associates after initial questioning of the residents. They also discovered multiple weapons and magazines at the scene.
The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
