44th APS wins 2025 AFRC Air Transportation Activity Award

ANDERSEN AFB, GUAM – The 44th Aerial Port Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, won the Air Reserve Component Air Transportation Activity of the Year Award from the 2025 Air Force Reserve Command Logistics Readiness Unit, Individual and Functional Area & Team Awards, on Feb. 10, 2026.

According to award announcer, Maj. Gen. Stacey L. Scarisbrick, AFRC director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, “these awards are a testament to the superior work ethic, sense of duty, and remarkable professionalism of our winners.”

The 44th APS is at the forward edge of the AFRC, uniquely postured to readily support missions and movements on island and abroad.

“We’re all over the Pacific putting our name out there and it’s constant,” said Lt. Col. Benjamin Guerrero, 44th APS commander. “RegAF, PACAF, the 36th Wing, active-duty units know that we’re here. They know who we are and what we can bring, so they’re constantly reaching out [for support]. And I can guarantee we have volunteers who will do it.”

In September 2022, Guerrero assumed command of the 44th APS. A year later, the squadron won the 2023 ARC Air Transportation Activity OTY award. Since then, nearly 2,000 military personnel appropriation days were accumulated.

For Guerrero, this award is a testament to members’ commitment.

“It’s humbling to know that we won again…that the unit has stepped up and performed – and they do it without question,” said Guerrero. “I don’t think you could ask for a better group of Airmen across the reserve command. . . I think this is the best bunch you’re going to find.”

Last year, the 44th APS supported missions like Operation Christmas Drop, joint training with partner nations, Exercise Cope North, Exercise Cope Thunder, and other missions across the transpacific theater.
