83rd CSSB/232nd CSSB RIP TOA

Zagan, Poland- The 83rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 510th Regional Support Group, 7th Mission Support Command, mark their mobilization with a Relief in Place/Transfer of Authority with the 232ND Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Illinois Army National Guard on March 20, 2026, in Zagan, Poland.

The ceremony marked the end of the rotation for the 232nd CSSB, commanded by Lt. Col. Daniel Johnson, and the beginning of the rotation for the 83rd CSSB, commanded by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Christen Gonzales.

“Today we make a transition”, said Col. Daniel Meyers, commander of the 510th Regional Support Group, 7th Mission Support Command. “First to the Soldiers of the 232nd CSSB, your performance over the past nine months have been nothing short of exceptional.”

The transfer of authority represents a deliberated and coordinated efforts between the outgoing unit and incoming units, ensuring seamless transition of responsibilities. This also includes detailed coordination with equipment inventories, transfer of knowledge to maintain uninterrupted support to ongoing missions.

This ceremony is not just a change of authority, but a continuation of success with sustainment demonstrated to NATO’s operation across the eastern flank.

The 232nd CSSB, known as Task Force Wojtek, has executed over 200 missions across eight countries, covering more than 750,000 kilometers with no incidents occurred, providing security for rail operations until mission complete.

The 232nd CSSB played a major role in European theater exercises such as Saber Junction, Operation Sentry, Combined Resolved, and Defender Europe. These exercises

“Because of your efforts, units across this theater remained ready”, said Meyers. “Because of your discipline and commitment, we strengthen deterrence”. “You didn’t just support the mission, you enabled it”.

The 83rd CSSB, known as Task Force Phoenix, will continue the success of their predecessors, ensuring that mission requirements will be maintained and excelled laid by a strong foundation and great leadership.

“It is truly an honor to assume command of Taskforce Phoenix and continue this mission”. Said Lt. Col. Christen Gonzales, commander of the 83rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 510th Regional Support Group, 7th Mission Support Command. “Lt. Col. Johnson and Taskforce Voytek, thank you for the strong foundation you left behind”. We will carry that forward.”

The transition also underscores the collaborative effort between the 83rd CSSB and the 510th RSG, whose brigade-level leadership ensures synchronized operations across multiple units in theater. This partnership enables efficient cooperation and reinforces the U.S. Army’s ability to operate effectively alongside allied forces, NATO partners, and host nation.

“To our partners and enables, Polish allies, we are proud to stand alongside with you”. Said Gonzales. “We will continue this operation with the professionalism and commitment it demands”.

Meyers commented on the RSG’s support and will to work together.

“You are what makes this force move, fight, and win”, said Meyers. “232nd CSSB, well done, 83rd CSSB, welcome to the mission”.
