Marshall Center Hosts Garmisch-Partenkirchen Residents for Community Engagement Visit

On March 19, 2026, the Marshall Center welcomed students from St. Irmengard Realschule in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for a closer look at what the center does and how it connects to the community.

Guided by German Army Col. Markus Schneider, Marshall Center senior German officer, the group received an introduction to integrated security, exploring why security matters for society and how its different dimensions are interconnected.

The visit also provided an opportunity to connect with the local community that hosts the Marshall Center, U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria – Garmisch, and the U.S. and German personnel who support both.

“We’ve all driven past here before and wondered what the Marshall Center actually does," said Michaela Brunner, deputy principal. "It was a very interesting visit, and our school will certainly be back with more classes.”

The group also visited the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, a U.S. Armed Forces Recreation Center co-located with the Marshall Center that supports service members and their families stationed in the region.
