KABUL- Afghan and coalition forces detained several insurgents in Khost province Friday, including a Haqqani Network facilitation cell leader responsible for the coordination and execution of attacks against coalition forces operating in the area.
This capture marks the sixth Haqqani Network leader captured in the province this month.
Intelligence reports led the security force to a compound east of the village of Guldar in Bak District to search for the facilitator.
Afghan and coalition forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compound peacefully and then secured the area.
After initial questioning at the scene, the security force identified and detained the facilitator and two of his associates.
The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
