Rear Admiral Tobias executes OICC MCM all hands and coin presentation
Rear Adm. Omarr Tobias, Commander NAVFAC Pacific, visited NAVFAC's Guam based command Officer In Charge of Construction Marine Corps Marianas (OICC MCM) to conduct an All Hands discussion and hand out NAVFAC Pacific Coins for excellence. During the All Hands, Admiral Tobias expressed his pride in the great work OICC MCM was doing in building the first new Marine Corps Base in over 70 years while respecting and preserving the cultural history and legacy of the people of Guam. OICC MCM has found, preserved, and protected numerous ancient CHamoru findings including human remains, dating from 1,500 BC to 1,000 AD, that have been discovered during construction since 2020, with over 26 distinct areas identified to date; the most well-known being the Sabånan Fadang monument.
Admiral Tobias also took the opportunity to provide NAVFAC Pacific Command coins for excellence to OICC MCM personnel who had gone above and beyond to ensure contract compliance, increase the pace of construction execution, and improve resiliency of the command.
