KABUL- Afghan and coalition forcesn detained several insurgents in Paktiya province Thursday, including a Taliban facilitator for small and medium weapons and improvised explosive device materials.
The commander was also involved in coordinating future attacks in Paktiya province that threaten the safety of the population. Acting on intelligence tips, Afghan and coalition forces targeted a compound in the village of Khvajar Kheyl in Gardez District to search for the facilitator. Afghan and coalition forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compound peacefully and then secured the area.
After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator and two of his associates.
The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
