F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. - 90th Security Forces Group spouses gained firsthand insight into the mission and daily responsibilities of Security Forces defenders during a capabilities demonstration at F.E. Warren AFB, Feb. 9, 2026.

The demonstration included defenders from the 90th Security Forces Squadron, 790th Missile Security Forces Squadron and 90th Missile Security Operations Squadron, along with additional missile security and support teams. Defenders walked attendees through the roles each unit plays in protecting missile facilities across the missile fields and the roles defenders fill on base.

Missile security operations often take defenders away from home for extended periods, sometimes lasting several days at a time. While families are familiar with the time commitment and the responsibilities, the mission can be difficult to visualize. This event was executed to close that gap by showing the equipment defenders use and explaining how each team contributes to maintaining security and readiness.

“Its important for spouses to know because it gives them a better understanding about where and what their significant others are going and doing on a day in day out basis”, said Master Sgt. Zachary Silchuk, 90 SFS flight chief. “I think it also gives them a little bit more of a sense of pride in their significant others”.

Spouses observed tactical response forces trained to respond to elevated threats, military working dog teams demonstrated their role in detection and patrol operations, and Airmen explained how small unmanned aerial systems provide aerial visibility and improve situational awareness during security operations.

The demonstration also highlighted how multiple units work together to secure weapons storage areas, patrol installation boundaries and safeguard missile sites spread across a wide geographic region. Each team plays a specific role, forming a layered defense designed to ensure continuous protection of strategic assets.
