BAGHDAD - Twenty members of the Maysan Province 8th Emergency Response Battalion graduated from a week-long raid planning and search warrant course Sept. 2 at Contingency Operating Site Garry Owen.

The course included instruction in all phases of raid planning including: building entry, urban movement, sectors of fire and close quarters battle. Training consisted of class-room discussion, desktop scenarios and hands-on practical exercises.

The course was conducted jointly by United States Forces-Iraq and a U.S. Department of State Civilian Police Advisor Training Center support team to enhance the 8th ERB’s capabilities of providing safety and security for the Iraqi people.

“The training you have received will better prepare you for success as the Maysan Province and the Republic of Iraq moves forward,” said Iraqi Col. Sayed Sadiq, commander of the 8th ERB.

The course culminated with a live-fire shoot-house course, in which the students honed their skills with several iterations and extensive critiques.
