KABUL – An Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents in Khost province Monday in their continued pursuit of a Haqqani Network facilitator of improvised explosive device material and weapons used in indirect fire attacks.
Intelligence tips led the security force to a compound east of Zambar in Sabari district to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined force secured the area.
After questioning all the occupants, the security force detained three suspected insurgents. They also discovered an automatic weapon, pistol, and rifle at the scene.
The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
