ORLANDO, FL – U.S. Indo-Pacific Command senior leaders stressed the importance of realistic all-domain training during the 2025 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, December 1-4. The conference, themed "Optimizing Training: Ensuring Operational Dominance," gathered more than 4,000 participants from 55 countries to shape the future of military readiness.
U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard Goodman, USINDOPACOM director of joint training and exercises and Dr. Andre Stridiron III, Pacific Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Capability project manager, shared their insights as panelists.
During the signature event, "Cutting Edge Innovation - Rapidly Advancing Modeling and Simulation to Support Joint All Domain Training," the panel addressed the critical need for the joint force to be prepared for globally integrated, cross-functional, multi-domain operations. Goodman emphasized the importance of realistic training to achieve that objective.
“PMTEC is a game-changer for joint training and experimentation in the Indo-Pacific,” said Goodman. “By integrating live, virtual, and constructive environments across all domains—land, sea, air, space, and cyber—we ensure our forces are equipped to operate effectively in the most complex and contested battlespaces. Realistic all-domain training is the foundation of operational readiness.
“You’ve heard ‘train like you fight’. I maintain that you will ‘fight like you train.’”
On the panel for another focus event, “Joint All-Domain Non-Kinetic Training—Connecting Live, Virtual and Constructive Environments and Ranges," Stridiron stressed that the optimal training environment integrates capabilities in all domains, including space, cyber, and the electromagnetic spectrum.
"Non-kinetic integration into the live, virtual and constructive environment is paramount across all levels—strategic, operational, and tactical—and we must embrace model and simulation integration,” said Stridiron.
He stressed this integration is core to PMTEC’s mission to deliver a decisive training advantage through a linked, multi-domain ecosystem. PMTEC has created and is constantly enhancing the largest coalition range system in the world, linking geographically distributed ranges and training areas across the Indo-Pacific theater and beyond.
“The goal is to ensure U.S. and allied forces are ready to defend the homeland, deter aggression, and secure a free and open Indo-Pacific,” said Stridiron. “By advancing training methods alongside our allies and partners, PMTEC is enabling combat readiness for the joint and coalition force, fostering peace through strength in the Indo-Pacific.”
About PMTEC: Established in 2022, the Pacific Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Capability is a transformative enterprise funded and resourced by the United States Indo-Pacific Command to enhance joint, combined, and coalition warfighting readiness, posture, and lethality in the Indo-Pacific. It has created and is constantly enhancing the largest coalition range system in the world, linking geographically distributed ranges and training areas across the Indo-Pacific theater and beyond. PMTEC is a key component of the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, reinforcing the U.S. commitment to homeland defense and a free and open Indo-Pacific. PMTEC’s integration of advanced training technologies and its alignment with U.S. National Security Strategy make it a cornerstone of U.S. efforts to maintain regional stability and counter adversarial aggression.
