The Missouri Air National Guard’s 131st Force Support Squadron has been named the best in the Air National Guard, earning the Maj. Gen. Eugene L. Eubank Award.
The award recognizes the top Force Support Squadron in the Air National Guard, highlighting excellence in customer service, mission support and innovation across services, lodging, personnel and readiness.
For members of the 131st, the award is the result of years of experience and teamwork.
“We’ve got a lot of people who have been doing this job for years, and that knowledge base makes a huge difference,” said Tech. Sgt. Clint Vose, a kitchen production lead in the services section. “Everyone wants to do a good job, not just for their own section but for anyone who needs help. I think that’s what really set us apart.”
The squadron also benefited from competing in the Master Sgt. Kenneth W. Disney Food Services Award, a contest that evaluates services programs across the Air National Guard. The 131st Services Flight's consistent efforts earned them honors as a Disney Award finalist for the past two years. Even without a win, Vose said the experience left the unit stronger.
“It pushed us to raise our standards and brought the personnel and services teams closer,” he said. “It showed how well we can support each other.”
Innovation also played a role in the squadron’s success. Master Sgt. Amber Glass, the 131st FSS customer support NCOIC, pointed to the adoption of Swim Lane, a process-improvement tool that maps out tasks to reduce bottlenecks.
“One thing I’m incredibly proud of is how our personnel team leveraged Swim Lane to better serve our Airmen,” Glass said. “We processed 4,343 actions in 2024 with an average turnaround of just 2.47 days. That was nearly twice as fast as the standard. It’s not just about the metrics—it’s about ensuring our members have timely and accurate support so they can focus on their mission.”
Senior leaders said the recognition was well-earned. Brig. Gen. Patrick Lanagan, assistant adjutant general - air, Missouri National Guard, emphasized how the unit’s success affects mission accomplishment in each section across the wing.
“The fact they were recognized as the best of the best is not a surprise,” Lanagan said. “I’m very proud of them—not only for winning the award, but more importantly for ensuring the 131st is able to perform its mission.”
The Eubank Award now places the 131st Force Support Squadron alongside the Air Guard’s top performers nationwide, underscoring its role in keeping Missouri’s Airmen mission-ready.
