U.S. Army Europe and Africa Commander Visits the Marshall Center

U.S. Army Gen. Chris Donahue, commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, visited the Marshall Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Aug. 14, 2025, for a professional development session with Foreign Area Officers enrolled in the Eurasian Foreign Area Officer Program.

While here, Marshall Center Director Barre Seguin and senior staff met with Donahue to discuss Marshall Center mission developments and opportunities for cooperation between the organizations supporting European-led deterrence and defense.

The Eurasian Foreign Area Officer Program creates adaptable regional experts to serve in key political-military assignments throughout the European and Eurasian theaters. The program ensures the U.S. Department of Defense employs personnel who deeply understand the geopolitical security challenges and opportunities impacting Europe and Eurasia.

FAOs leave the Marshall Center ready to serve in U.S. embassies across Europe and Eurasia, in NATO and major U.S. theater command staffs, and on operational missions worldwide.
