"Tops in Blue" entertains service members on FOB Warrior

KIRKUK, Iraq - Before the Air Force band “Tops in Blue” took the stage at Forward Operating Base Warrior, Kirkuk, Iraq, during their world tour, they were already receiving rave reviews from the audience, July 9.

“I guarantee everyone will enjoy this show they have something for everybody,” said Air Force Col. Steven Slick, the host of the concert and 506th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron commander, who saw “Tops in Blue” perform at Dover Air Force Base.

“We Believe” is the theme of the 90-minute show. It is a salute to the ideas Americans believe in, and featured the R&B music of Stevie Wonder, swing music from Michael Buble, Montgomery Gentry’s all-American country music, hits from Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas and much more.

“I really didn’t know what to expect from an Air Force band but their performance is one I won’t soon forget,” said Spc. Jimmy Bailey, a communications specialist with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.

He continued by saying their performance brought a little bit of home to the desert.
According to Tops in Blue this is their mission, bringing quality entertainment to troops in remote and deployed locations.

This is why the 31-member band is scheduled to tour Iraq for the entire month of July.
