KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and international security forces conducted operations in Paktiya and Kapisa provinces last night.

An Afghan-international force detained a large number of suspected insurgents including a Haqqani facilitator during separate clearing operations in Paktiya province last night.

One security force went to a series of compounds near Kheder Khan while pursuing a Taliban sub-commander responsible for improvised explosive device attacks. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to peacefully exit the buildings and then cleared the area.

After the compounds were secured, the combined security force detained several suspected insurgents for further questioning.

Also in Paktiya last night, a separate Afghan and international force detained a number of suspected insurgents including a Haqqani facilitator. The security force went to a compound near Trakan Kalay in Zurmat District and secured the area. After searching the buildings and questioning the residents at the compound, the assault force detained
the suspected insurgents.

A separate Afghan-international force detained two suspected insurgents in Kapisa province last night while pursuing a Taliban commander responsible for IED and ambush attacks against coalition forces.

The combined security force detained the suspected insurgents at a compound near Soltan Khel Karaji in Tagab District. Afghan soldiers used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to peacefully exit the compound and then cleared the buildings.

No shots were fired, and women and children present were protected by combined security forces during all of the operations.
