PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - Two F-16 fighters under the direction of North American Aerospace Defense Command intercepted a Denver-bound airliner at about 6:45 p.m. MDT today.

Shortly before the airliner was scheduled to land in Denver from Washington National Airport, a passenger reportedly caused a disturbance, NORAD officials said.

The F-16s intercepted and escorted the aircraft, which landed safely. Local law enforcement officials met the plane in Denver.
