MCPON James Honea Brings Message of Support to Naval Ophthalmic Readiness Activity

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) James Honea traveled to Naval Ophthalmic Readiness Activity (NORA), Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, VA, to see the Navy optical fabrication process and to meet with Sailors, Soldiers and Civilians, May 20, 2024.

NORA is a directorate of the Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC), Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg, VA. It delivers the material solutions of frontline medical platforms via the Expeditionary Medical Family of Systems (EXMEDS).

NMRLC’s mission is to develop, acquire, produce, field, sustain and provide optical fabrication and lifecycle support for medical materiel solutions to the Fleet, Fleet Marine Force, and Joint Forces in support of high-end competition, crisis, and combat.

During the tour portion of his visit, he shared a key message that aligns with his priorities of making Sailors stronger, smarter, and better valued. As he met with Sailors, he listened to and addressed questions and concerns they had.

NMRLC NORA Yorktown is the largest of the 22 Army and Navy Optical Fabrication Labs (OFLs) in DoD. It contains all necessary subject matter expertise to support and guide the Military Health System Optical Fabrication Enterprise (OFE). The Optical Fabrication labs are located at various Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States and overseas.
